Microsoft announces the appointment of Alaeddine Karim as country manager of its operations in Kuwait. Karim will lead the company’s efforts in driving digital transformation agendas among public and private organizations in Kuwait.

The new country manager will engage with customers to digitally empower employees, optimize operations and transform business models.

Karim Alaeddine believes in technology’s role in transforming lives and the impact it has on the economy and society. He shares on plans to help Kuwait achieve its vision 2035 goals.

Microsoft welcomes Yacine Barro as new Country Manager for West and Central Africa

Microsoft has appointed Yacine Barro as Country Manager for West and Central Africa (WCA). Barro, who returns to Microsoft after serving as Business Development Manager for Microsoft WCA between 2004 and 2006, will be based in Dakar, Senegal.

It’s a great honour for me to join Microsoft and particularly to lead the WCA Team. I strongly believe that Microsoft is one of best companies in the world. In the way it empowers people and enables us to make a difference. West and Central Africa has enormous potential and we have the exciting challenge to help grow the region through technology, increasing what it can offer the rest of the world.  I feel truly thrilled to be part of it,” – Yacine Barro.

Microsoft a annoncé la désignation de Laurence Janssens au poste de Country Manager pour les îles de l’océan Indien et du Pacifique francophone (IOI & PF) région.

Laurence a rejoint Microsoft en Belgique en 2015.  Elle y était responsable du secteur public pour la Belgique, qui regroupe toutes les institutions gouvernementales et internationales belges (UE et OTAN).

Elle a siégé également au sein des conseils d’administration des «Microsoft Innovation Centres», qui sont des partenariats public-privé avec les régions de Bruxelles et de Wallonie, Microsoft et d’autres partenaires privés.

Il y a un vrai dynamisme et de nombreuses opportunités pour le Cloud, j’espère qu’avec mon expérience et le support de mes collègues nous pourrons contribuer davantage à l’essor de la technologie dans la région. – Laurence Janssens

Avant Microsoft Laurence a travaillé pendant de nombreuses années dans l’industrie de la technologie et des télécommunications. Elle apporte une riche expérience et expertise de l’industrie à son nouveau rôle de Country Manager pour la région IOI & PF.

Elle était une collaboratrice de Dell Computer et de Bain Consulting. Laurence Janssens est ingénieure commerciale diplômée de la KUL et a décroché un MBA à l’Université de Chicago.
Laurence Janssens prend le relais de Baudouin Urbain, qui, en l’espace de six ans, a contribué à une augmentation de plus de septante pour cent du chiffre d’affaires Secteur Public chez Microsoft BeLux.

Meet Derek Appiah, Microsoft Ghana’s new Country Manager

Derek sees significant potential in Ghana’s young population and is excited that Microsoft has a presence in the country to help unlock this potential.

Derek Appiah, new country manager for Microsoft Corporation in Ghana holds both an engineering and MBA degree. He’s gained over 20 years of experience in various fields; research, technology, product development, marketing, sales and management with various organizations; he’s worked in the UK as the general manager, new business development for BT, worked as a chief enterprise solutions officer at MTN, Nigeria. Derek has also been an independent IT and Telecoms consultant to telcos in UAE, New Zealand, Qatar and Ireland. He worked with Vodafone Ghana as a Vodafone business solutions director & previous CEO of Logiciel Ghana Ltd., currently a non executive director.

“What I really enjoy about working in emerging markets is that you can make a big impact quickly; it’s possible to contribute to the ecosystem in a very real way.”

Appiah’s goal as Country Manager will be to help the company have a more active role in Ghana and add more value now that it has offices in the country and a 100% Ghanaian staff complement. He aims to make a significant impact on Ghana’s development,

“I believe there is enormous potential for technology to change lives in the emerging world, so this is an opportunity to make a big impact using Microsoft to enable productivity for businesses, government and consumers,”

A key area Derek will be focusing is developing youth employability skills, which he believes will help to develop Ghana’s business ecosystem.

“What I love most about Ghana is its young and vibrant population,

They are peace-loving and punch above their weight intellectually, making them the perfect candidates to take the country forward if they can acquire the necessary skills.

This is not about charity but rather about creating a value exchange between citizens, industry and government. Young people are an asset to our society, and even more so if they are adequately equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to create a brighter future for themselves and for Ghana.”

Microsoft Ghana’s country manager Otema Yirenkyi will be speaking at the March meet-up of Women in Tech, which will take place at the iSpace Foundation Hub in Osu, Accra on the 5th of March 2015 at 6pm.

Women in Technology Nights out are informal networking events focused on educating and enhancing women’s careers by sharing experiences and lessons learned.
