This year’s connect(); event will take place along side Microsoft Azure and AI Conference. It still promises what developers know it for, news, demos and insights through keynotes and mostly technical sessions. That’s more deep diving into the platforms, tools and frameworks.

Microsoft Connect(); 2018 will take place December 4, 2018 online at these local times. 8:30 am PT, 11:30am ET, 4:30PM UTC, 7:30PM EAT, 6:30 PM SAT. But because of the Azure and AI conference it will be taking place in Las Vegas, if you want to be part. 

Microsoft says “Tune in online on December 4, 2018 for a full day of dev-focused delight—including updates on Azure and Visual Studio, keynotes, demos, and real-time coding with experts.”

Microsoft uses the online developer event to connect with developers. They share on the latest in technologies, tools and plans for the future. Developers get the opportunity to ask questions and see live demos of the tools and integrations. It will also show deployments of flexible tools that embrace various environments that target Android, iOS, Linux, Windows etc. Since it is fused with the AI event, you will hear more about Azure and AI future.

Keynote and featured speakers for include Scott Guthrie, Scott Hanselman, Donovan Brown, Amanda Silver and many more.

Microsoft’s annual developers and IT professionals conference, Ignite, is hitting the roads. Microsoft Ignite is going global and will be in a city near you. Microsoft promises to bring the same vibe to you on this tour during a two day event. This announcement came at the end of the conference which took place in Orlando, Florida just some days ago. Next years will also be in Orlando and you can pre-register for Microsoft Ignite 2019 now. 

Announcing #MSIgniteTheTour, a free technical training event for developers & tech professionals. 100+ deep-dive sessions, expert connections, and community building.

From all indications Microsoft Ignite The Tour seems to be a replacement for Microsoft TechSummit which has the same goal. So TechSummit fans this will be the go to event next year. 

Promising over 100 sessions the event will help you grow your skills, explore new technology and connect with Microsoft engineers. If you are planning to attend there will be so many topics and sessions you’ll need to tailor the experience to what you want to leave with. 

In the Microsoft Middle East and Africa region the conferences will take place in Johannesburg, Tel Aviv and Dubai. The Johannesburg, South Africa event is scheduled to take place January 28-29, 2019January 22-23, 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 27-28, 2019.

Microsoft’s developer and IT professional conference Ignite will be taking place September 24th to the 28th. Like last year, individuals have been selected from the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and Regional Director(RD) community. These individuals will become community reporters during the conference period, keeping us up to date. The ignite community reporters specialize in varying fields of tech making it possible to hear about the various tools and their development opportunities. 

 Microsoft MVP Visual Studio and Development Technologies, Toni Edward Solarin-Sodara who also is a software engineer at Andela Nigeria has been selected. Toni will join this years Ignite Community Reporter’s in Orlando, Florida where the event will take place.

Microsoft introduced the new reporters in a blog statement.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, will be speaking at the keynote event on Microsoft’s vision for the future of technology. We will have the live stream available to watch. So join us explore the new tools and technologies that’ll be coming.

.NET Conf 2018 Africa local meet-up Events

We share with you where .NET Conf events are taking place across the continent.

 

.NET Conf 2018 is here and is set to take place, September 12 to the 14th 2018. This is a free virtual 3-day developer event with local meet-ups scheduled to take place September 12 through to October 31st across the globe.

The virtual livestream event will discuss what’s new in .NET by the builders. Other speakers will talk about some of the tools including .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, Xamarin, C#, Azure, AI/ML, etc. Join and find out what the future holds for .NET. 

This year’s event features, Microsoft MVP, Toni Solarin-Sodara of Andela Nigeria. Toni will be speaking on “Cross-Platform Unit Testing and Code Coverage with Coverlet” on day 3. Don’t miss it.

Team SmartARM emerge winners in the 2018 Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition. 

SmartARM

The 2018 edition of the Microsoft student developer championship has a winner, Team SmartARM. Team SmartARM, is made up of students from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Canada. The team won the 2018 championship with their smartARM idea. A robotic hand prosthetic idea, it works using using Microsoft’ Azure Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Cloud Storage technologies. The robotic hand uses a camera embedded in its palm to recognize objects and calculate the most appropriate grip for an object. Using Machine Learning, the more the model is used the more accurate it becomes. 

SmartARM

The Microsoft Imagine Cup is a global competition that empowers the next generation of computer science students. Students team up and use their creativity, passion and knowledge of technology to create innovative solutions with the potential to solve real world problems.

The teams prize package include a mentoring session with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, $85,000 in cash and a $50,000 Azure grant. 

This years competition saw Team Fe Amaan from the Middle East Africa region qualify to the semi-finals stage. Unfortunately they didn’t make it to the last three for a chance to present in the finals.
