Microsoft Nigeria Bloggers Meet Up

Microsoft Nigeria brought together some of Nigeria’s bloggers to a special Bloggers Meet Up session at their office in Lagos.

Microsoft Nigeria got together some bloggers from Nigeria to their Victoria Island, Lagos head office. This was a an opportunity for the bloggers to meet the Microsoft team and learn about some Microsoft Technologies.

The social media enthusiasts invited were taken through Windows 10, Windows 10 upgrade from older Microsoft Windows generations. Windows 10 features such as personal assistant; Cortana, security in Windows 10, a more familiar user interface, Office 365 and the cloud.
There was also introduction to some of the new features coming in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update at the bloggers meet up. How SME’s and NGO’s can take advantage of special Microsoft packages.

Microsoft Nigeria Communication Lead, Yemi Orimolade was around to welcome the guest and get things rolling.

So here are some of the things shared at the Microsoft Bloggers Meet Up and you could learn as well;

 

  1. Windows10 is designed for Digital Revolution. It’s designed to make you more productive.
  2. Windows 10 update is a full update and not a trial or introductory version.
  3. Office 365 Non Profit is Designed to help nonprofits and NGOs do more good. Check this out here (office for Non Profits)
  4. Sway is a pictures and text product of Office 365 used to tell stories and can be shared.
  5. You can still Upgrade to Windows 10 for free till July 29th from a genuine windows 7, 8, 8.1 PC.
  6. With Skype for Business you can text, call and video chat(group chat) all in one app.
  7. Cortana is a revolutionary personal assistant that never calls in sick. <—– lol (well without data this seems to happen)
  8. More details on Sway for office; It has Editing tools that helps you cut, crop, resize, skew and do a lot of mini Photoshop.
  9. As a small business owner you can sign up for a 6-month Office 365 trial
  10. If your business is less than 5 years old, privately held, and earns less than $1M annually and you need some startup help.  The Microsoft BizSpark program is there to help you grow.

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL & 950 Launched in Nigeria

Nigeria has officially seen the launch of Microsoft mobile’s latest flagship the Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950.

The two flagships devices were announced sometime back and have been making their way to various markets around the world. The new devices run Windows 10 mobile and shares the same code base as Windows 10 PC.

Microsoft mobile Nigeria unveiled the Lumia 950 and 950 XL devices at a media roundtable held February 4th, 2016 at the Civic Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Joseph Umunakwe, Microsoft Mobile Devices and Services General Manager West, East and Central Africa, at the event spoke about  Microsoft’s commitment to empowering every individual and organization on the planet to achieve more.

“The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL deliver a familiar and consistent experience that extends across your Windows devices from key apps like Office built-in to provide access to all your stuff via OneDrive and the cloud.”

Olumide Balogun, Head of Marketing ‎Microsoft Mobile Devices and Services Nigeria and Ghana, stated the Lumia 950/950XL drives seamless experiences from productivity, security, usability and availability. He said,

“Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL provide stunning displays, the latest in processing power, and improved battery life and quick charging. The Continuum for phones feature combined with the Microsoft Display Dock enables you to connect the phones to a monitor, mouse and keyboard and work like a PC.”

The Lumia 950 and 950 XL are currently selling at authorized Microsoft devices partner retail outlets and available on leading online stores.
