Microsoft Ghana Partners to Empower SME’s grow in the Tigo Business SME Empowerment Roadshow

Microsoft Ghana has partnered with Tigo Business (Tigo Ghana), Lenovo Africa, ITWORX and ZEPTO. The partnership is to empower small and medium enterprise businesses in Ghana. Through the Tigo Business SME Empowerment Roadshow program.

Tigo Ghana’s enterprise division, Tigo Business is taking with it a host of partners on it’s SME Empowerment Roadshow. They get joined by Microsoft Ghana, Lenovo Africa,  ITWORX and ZEPTO.  Each partner will contribute a package to make small to medium enterprises benefit from the program.

Microsoft Ghana will contribute through it’s Biz4Afrika initiative. Biz4Afrika is an online hub for African small and medium enterprises under the Microsoft 4Afrika program.

Biz4Afrika is an Africa-wide network of SMEs designed to enable a sustainable and connected community of entrepreneurs that will have a meaningful impact on job creation, global competitiveness and wealth creation in the long run.

Mr. Derek Appiah,  Country Manager for Microsoft in Ghana on the partnership said;

Microsoft’s goal is to enable SME’s in Africa to start, grow and accelerate their businesses through affordable access to technology, world-class skills and innovation.
We aim to help this sector sustain their growth, reach their full potential and turn their ideas into reality via initiatives such as Biz4Afrika – an online hub for SMEs in Africa

The partnership brings together an ecosystem of business solution providers ranging from content, connectivity, devices, software and financial expertise to help businesses build solid processes at world class standards and give them a competitive edge both locally and in the sub-region.

Each partner brings an array of expertise to the table. Microsoft will provide access to email, domain names, and basic book keeping tools under the Office 365 services. Through its subsidiary partners; ITworx, will provide a rich portfolio of enterprise productivity solutions, while Zepto will provide tablets with keyboards for easy use in stores, POS terminals and software solutions specifically designed for the enterprise space by ITWorx.

World Vision, new implementing partners of Tizaaworks held an event to mark International Youth Day in Accra, Ghana. TizaaWorks is a Microsoft YouthSpark and Microsoft 4Afrika Initiative introduced by Microsoft Ghana.

TizaaWorks is an online platform for employability and entrepreneurship. It helps equip young graduates and school-leavers with the right employable skills to prepare them for the job market. That’s hard and soft skills to bridge the skills gap and secure first-time job opportunities. It also provides career guidance and resources for those wanting to build their businesses. The platform offers information on personality assessment, virtual interviews, CV writing, business idea pitching, writing cover letters, job vacancies and free online courses.

The YouthSpark conference featured a presentation on the Sustainable Development Goals, a training on entrepreneurship, poetry, choreography and music. Here are some pictures from the event.

There is real comfort in knowing someone’s got this and it doesn’t have to drive you literally crazy. You can also learn to troubleshoot issues before they become main problems.

  • When You Need to Repair your Microsoft Mobile Phone:

  •  How to get Windows 10 Mobile OS running on your mobile device;

There are only two ways to get Windows 10 Mobile OS running on your device:

  1. Buy a new device running Windows 10 Mobile .

  2. Or Check from the List of Upgradable Windows 8.1 devices.
    If the upgrade is available for your existing Windows Phone 8.1 device, you can install the upgrade.

    To check if the upgrade is available for your phone and install the upgrade, go to the Store, install the Upgrade Advisor app, run the app to see if the update is available, and then select Enable Windows 10 upgrade.

 

  • How to get an activation code for your mobile device:
Kindly Click —-> here   or type out  —> [ https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contact/menu/hardware/wp/ ] in your web browser. You can either call, text chat a Microsoft Answer Desk person who’ll require your phones IMEI and model. (chat is usually a better option).
  • How to Add a Microsoft account to your phone:
On Start Start button, swipe over to the All apps list, then select Settings > Accounts > Your email and accounts and your created Microsoft account. (You can now use any email account you have, Yahoo, Gmail, etc. Once you sign that up as your Microsoft Account).
  • How to Setup Windows Hello Login if you own a Lumia 950 or 950 XL (or supported device);

Windows Hello is another way to sign in to your Windows 10 mobile device. It uses your eyes to verify your identity. It needs special hardware and so this isn’t available with every windows mobile device.

To set it up; On Start Start symbol, swipe over to the All apps list, and then select Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options to set up Windows Hello. (If you don’t see a sign-in option for Windows Hello, then your phone doesn’t support it.) Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to unlock your phone at a glance.

 

  • How to Setup and Use Continuum

Create and edit Office documents, send email, type text messages, watch videos, browse your photos, or surf the web on your connected screen. When you’re done, your work goes with you—it’s saved on your phone.

Continuum turns your phone into a big-screen projector and a big-time productivity tool. Use a dock or wireless adapter to connect to a TV or monitor, then use your apps and see your content on a larger screen. Want to do even more? Connect a keyboard and mouse and get productive.

*Use your Phone as a Phone during Continuum. Even when you’re connected to a display or monitor, you can still use your phone in all the usual ways. Make and receive calls, send texts, check your social media apps—it’s all still a tap away.

How you set up Continuum depends on what type of hardware you’ve got. Here’s what you’ll need to get started.

  • A TV or monitor with HDMI input.

  • A Windows 10 Mobile phone that’s compatible with Continuum.

  • A compatible accessory for connecting your phone to your TV or monitor.

  • A power outlet to plug in your dock or adapter.

*Use your Phone as a mouse during Continuum. To use your phone to control your connected screen, select Tap to control in the Continuum banner at the top of your screen. Then swipe your finger around the phone’s screen to move the cursor.

To connect using a wired dock:

  1. Plug the dock into a power outlet.

  2. If you’re connecting to a TV, make sure the TV’s input is set to HDMI.

  3. Plug the dock into the HDMI port on your TV or monitor.

  4. Plug your phone into the dock.

To connect using a wireless adapter:

  1. Plug the adapter into a power outlet.

  2. If you’re connecting to a TV, make sure the TV’s input is set to HDMI.

  3. Plug the adapter into the HDMI port on your TV or monitor.

  4. On your phone, swipe over to the All apps list, then select Continuum Continuum icon.

  5. Select Set up. (You’ll only see this screen the first time you connect.)

  6. Select Wireless, then select Connect.

  7. On the Connect screen, select the name of the wireless adapter.

**** To get to more settings and options while you’re connected, tap the Continuum banner at the top of your phone screen, then tap More More icon.

The Airtel Microsoft Ghana DigiGirlz Day

DigiGirlz is a Microsoft YouthSpark program which gives middle and high school girls opportunities to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees, and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops.

Microsoft Ghana partnered with Airtel Ghana through it’s Evolve with STEM initiative for the first Ghana edition of DigiGirlz day.

DigiGirlz day took place at the iSpace Hub in Labone and had about 60 girls participating in the program. The program brought in to mentor the girls, Lucy Quist; Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Elizabeth Patterson; founder and director of Girls Education Initiative of Ghana, Anita Erskine; founder of Brand Woman Africa, a media entrepreneur, TV & Radio host, Anne Amuzu; co founder Nandi Mobile, Larissa Bowen-Dodoo; founder of Levers in Heels, Florence Toffa; Director of Mobile Web Ghana and founder of Fime Project and others.

These mentors shared inspiring personal stories that’ll bring belief, empower and challenge the young future leaders to go into the technology industry. There was also an Hour of Code session where participants were taught how to code in HTML. The break out sessions dealt with topics like Effective and safer internet usage, Scams and email messages, Why STEM is important,

Derek Appiah Microsoft country manager about the program said;

Microsoft is committed to encouraging more women to join the ICT industry and we are inviting Ghanaian high school girls to discover the opportunities that exist for them in our industry. We want to demystify any belief that STEM is for boys so as to ensure that they make the right education choices now for the bright future that they deserve

It’s been an exciting time spent with all the participants of DigiGirlz today. I am encouraged by their curiosity, passion and determination throughout the session.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is an enabler for creativity and problem solving in young people which is why we launched the Evolve with STEM initiative to inspire belief, empower and transform mindsets of young people towards STEM.
We are proud to be associated with DigiGirlz, which aligns with Evolve with STEM. It is great to see organizations like Microsoft, a technology giant, support initiatives to empower young people through STEM

Microsoft Students Partners (MSP) and the School of Technology Students Association (SOTSA), of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration(GIMPA) presents CodeHouse.

CodeHouse is a mobile application coding session, that seeks to teach you how to design and develop Windows, IOS and Android phone apps using Xamarin studio.

The training session takes place 3rd May 2016 at the AVU Lab, GIMPA, Accra from 2pm to 5pm.
