The ROG Ally: A Next-Gen handheld gaming machine

Republic of Gamers (ROG) announces the launch of the ROG Ally, a new Windows 11 gaming handheld. The ROG Ally runs on an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor and can breeze through AAA games and indie titles in 1080p with ease. It will be available for sale worldwide on June 13th, 2023 for $699.99, with pre-orders starting May 11th.

The next-gen handheld ROG Ally offers Full HD gaming on the go. It promises to run modern AAA titles faster and smoother than any other handheld on the market. Since it runs Windows 11, it can play any game from any platform and includes 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate right out of the box.

The Ally is powered by an all-new Ryzen Z1 Series processor from AMD. Built on the “Zen” 4 architecture combined with AMD RDNA 3 architecture-based graphics, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor rivals the prowess of game consoles with 8 cores, 16 threads, and up to 8.6 teraflops of graphics processing power.

Making this possible is ROG’s Zero Gravity thermal system, which uses a dual-fan system with ultra-thin heatsink fins and high-friction heat pipes to ensure the Ally stays cool in any orientation. The Ally also comes equipped with 16GB of high-speed LPDDR5 6400MHz memory, 512 GB of PCIe Gen 4 storage, and a UHS-II microSD card slot to further expand its storage capacity.

Flagship gaming performance demands a panel to match, and the Ally does not disappoint. Equipped with a 120Hz Full HD (1080p) panel with AMD FreeSync™ Premium technology, gamers will enjoy supreme motion clarity in fast-paced games, with no tearing or stuttering.

The ROG Ally takes handheld gaming to new heights. With a Full HD screen and hardware capable of 60 FPS in many of the latest titles, the ROG Ally provides an on-the-go experience that will satisfy gamers of all stripes. Compared to the 720p resolution of competing devices, the ROG Ally offers superior image and motion clarity thanks to its Full HD panel and AMD FreeSync™ Premium technology.

The Ryzen Z1 Extreme equipped model with 512GB of storage will be available for pre-order starting on May 11th and available for sale for $699.99 at Best Buy on June 13th. The ROG Ally model with the Ryzen Z1 chip will be available later this year.

Here are simple ways to fix Windows 11 problems

Here are simple ways to fix Windows 11 problems

Windows 11 is the latest operating system from Microsoft, but it comes with its own set of issues and bugs. Whether you are having trouble installing Windows 11, experiencing slow performance, or encountering errors and crashes, there are some solutions you can try to fix common Windows 11 problems. In this blog post, we will cover some of the most frequent Windows 11 issues and how to fix them.

Windows 11 logo on a windows bloom image, post on how to fix Windows 11 problems

How to fix Windows 11 installation problems

One of the main hurdles to upgrading to Windows 11 is meeting the system requirements, which include a compatible processor, TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and enough disk space and memory. If your PC does not meet these requirements, you may not be able to install Windows 11 through Windows Update or the Installation Assistant.

To check if your PC is eligible for Windows 11, you can use the PC Health Check app from Microsoft or a third-party tool like WhyNotWin11. If your PC is not compatible, you may need to upgrade some hardware components or buy a new device that supports Windows 11.

If your PC meets the requirements but you still encounter errors or failures during the installation process, you can try some of these steps:

  • Run the Windows Update troubleshooter to fix any issues with the update service.
  • Disable or uninstall any antivirus or security software that may interfere with the installation.
  • Disconnect any external devices or peripherals that are not essential for the installation.
  • Clear some disk space by deleting temporary files, uninstalling unused apps, or moving files to an external drive.
  • Download and run the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB drive or DVD and install Windows 11 from there.

How to fix Windows 11 performance problems

If your PC is running slow or lagging after upgrading to Windows 11, there are some ways to improve its performance and speed up your system.

  • Check for updates and install any available patches that may fix bugs or optimize performance.
  • Adjust your power plan settings to balance performance and battery life.
  • Disable unnecessary startup programs that may slow down your boot time and consume resources.
  • Use Task Manager to monitor your CPU, memory, disk, and network usage and close any apps or processes that are hogging resources.
  • Run Disk Cleanup or Storage Sense to free up disk space and remove junk files.
  • Defragment your hard drive or optimize your SSD to improve data access and speed.
  • Update your drivers and firmware to ensure compatibility and stability with Windows 11.

How to fix Windows 11 error codes and crashes

Windows 11 may sometimes display error codes or crash unexpectedly due to various reasons, such as corrupted system files, hardware issues, driver conflicts, or software incompatibility. Depending on the type and severity of the error, you may need to take different actions to fix it.

Some of the common error codes and crashes on Windows 11 are:

  • Error code 0xC1900101: This indicates a driver problem that prevents Windows 11 from installing or updating. To fix it, you can try updating or rolling back your drivers, uninstalling any third-party antivirus or security software, disconnecting any external devices, or using the Media Creation Tool to install Windows 11.
  • Error code 0x80070070: This means that you do not have enough disk space to install or update Windows 11. To fix it, you can try clearing some disk space by deleting temporary files, uninstalling unused apps, or moving files to an external drive.
  • Error code 0x80070002 0x20009: This suggests that there is a problem with the boot configuration data (BCD) that prevents Windows 11 from installing or updating. To fix it, you can try rebuilding the BCD using the Command Prompt in the Advanced Startup Options menu.
  • Blue Screen of Death (BSOD): This is a serious system crash that causes Windows 11 to stop working and display a blue screen with an error message. To fix it, you can try booting into Safe Mode and performing a system restore, updating or uninstalling faulty drivers, scanning for malware, checking for hardware problems, or resetting your PC.

How to fix other common Windows 11 problems

Besides the above issues, there are some other common problems that users may face on Windows 11, such as:

  • Wi-Fi not working: If you cannot connect to Wi-Fi on Windows 11, you can try resetting your network settings or updating your Wi-Fi drivers.
  • Slowness: Restart your computer. This will allow it time to have all active programs close which gives space for new ones to be opened without any disruptions in performance.
  • Upgrade issues: You may come across commonly known issues during and after the upgrade, such as installation errors, compatibility issues, or driver issues. To fix these issues, you can try updating your drivers or running the Windows Update troubleshooter.
  • Blue screen of death (BSOD): This is a critical error that can occur when there is a problem with your hardware or software. To fix this issue, you can try updating your drivers or running the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool.
  • App compatibility issues: Some apps may not be compatible with Windows 11. To fix this issue, you can try running the app in compatibility mode or updating the app.

The beauty of Windows 11

The beauty of Windows 11

Windows 11 is the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system that was released in October 2021. It offers a fresh and modern design, improved performance and security, and new ways to connect and create. Windows 11 also receives regular feature updates that add more functionality and enhancements to the user experience.

In this blog post, we will explore some of the new features and updates that Windows 11 has introduced or will introduce soon.

New design and layout

One of the most noticeable changes in Windows 11 is the new design and layout of the user interface. The Start menu, taskbar, icons, widgets, settings, and apps have been redesigned to be more intuitive, consistent, and beautiful.

The Start menu has moved to the center of the taskbar by default (but you can change it back to the left if you prefer), and it shows your pinned apps, recent files, recommended content, and a search bar. You can also access your Microsoft account settings from here. The taskbar has also been simplified and streamlined. It only shows your pinned apps by default (but you can customize it to show more), and it has a new button for accessing widgets. Widgets are personalized mini-apps that show you information like weather, news, calendar events, photos, traffic updates, etc. The icons have been updated with rounded corners and softer colors to match the overall aesthetic of Windows 11. The settings app has also been revamped with a more coherent structure and easier navigation.

The apps have also been optimized for Windows 11 with new features like snap layouts (which let you arrange multiple windows on your screen with ease), snap groups (which let you switch between different sets of snapped windows), desktops (which let you create separate workspaces for different tasks), voice typing (which lets you dictate text with punctuation commands), Focus sessions (which let you set goals and track your progress while listening to music from Spotify), etc.

New accessibility features

Windows 11 also includes additional improvements for people with disabilities:

  • Narrator: Windows 11’s built-in screen reader has received more natural voices, improving the text-to-speech function.
  • Live captions: Windows 11 has introduced system-wide live captions that go beyond individual apps’ live caption features. You can enable them from Settings > Accessibility > Hearing > Captions.
  • Voice access: Windows 11 has added voice access as an accessibility feature that lets you control your PC with your voice. You can enable it from Settings > Accessibility > Interaction > Voice access.
  • Magnifier: Windows 11’s magnifier tool has been improved with smoother transitions between zoom levels. You can enable it from Settings > Accessibility > Vision > Magnifier.

New connectivity features

Windows 11 also offers new ways to connect with others:

  • Teams: Windows 11 has integrated Teams, Microsoft’s communication platform for chat, video calls, meetings, and collaboration into the taskbar. You can easily start or join conversations with anyone from your contacts list or phone book.
  • Bing Chat: Windows 11 will soon introduce Bing Chat, an AI-powered feature that lets you chat with Bing directly from the search box on your taskbar or Start menu. You can ask Bing questions, get answers, set reminders, create lists, and more using natural language.
  • Android apps: Windows 11 will soon support running Android apps on your PC through the Amazon Appstore and the new Microsoft Store. You will be able to download and use your favorite Android apps like TikTok, Instagram, Netflix, etc. on your PC as if they were native apps.

Windows 11 is a major update that brings many new features and improvements to enhance your productivity, creativity, and connectivity. It also receives regular feature updates that add more functionality and enhancements to the user experience.

If you want to upgrade to Windows 11, you need to have an eligible PC that meets minimum device specifications. You can check if your PC is compatible by using the PC Health Check app or visiting this website.
