Ajman Digital Government, Microsoft sign MoU to accelerate digital transformation in the Emirate of Ajman

Ajman Digital Government (ADG) and Microsoft United Arab Emirates have signed a memorandum of understanding to support and accelerate the process of digital transformation in the Emirate of Ajman at GITEX Technology Week 2019.

The agreement will see Microsoft support the Ajman e-Government goal. Helping ADG deliver solutions that increase government efficiency and productivity to citizens.

Director-General of the Ajman Digital Government, Ohoud Shehail, signed the agreement with Sayed Hashish, General Manager, Microsoft UAE. The signing took place at the government of Ajman booth at GITEX 2019.

A roadmap on how to leverage Microsoft expertise and solutions will be developed Ohoud Shehail says.

HP is emphasizing its global commitment to the environment at GITEX Technology Week 2019 in Dubai. Showcasing its latest sustainable products and services as well as a show stand it will recycle at the end of the trade show.

Firstly after the event HP will be recycle its to make chairs and tables for schools. Secondly there is the world’s first cartridge free printer, the HP Neverstop Laser made of twenty five percent recycled plastic on display. There is also the new HP Dragonfly, the worlds first laptop to contain ocean-bound plastics.

Fadle Saad, HP Regional Manager for GCC, Levant and Egypt talked about building sustainable products and services. Mentioning HP has locally introduced some of the most sustainable products. Successfully running a great recycling campaign.

At HP, sustainability is deeply embedded in our business strategy, our thinking and our company culture. This clearly reflects on the products and solutions we are showcasing at GITEX this year. For us, GITEX is not only about displaying new technology, but also focusing on sustainable ones.”

Microsoft is inviting software developers to a meet and greet session this Friday 11th October 2019. Come, meet and engage with visiting software engineering team members form Microsoft HQ. As well as Microsoft Africa Development Center engineering team at the Microsoft office at 2pm in Nairobi.

Avaya and Microsoft announce partnership at GITEX 2019

Avaya and Microsoft are partnering to offer Contact Center as a Service solutions to businesses in the Arab Gulf region. The companies announce the partnership at the ongoing GITEX Technology Week 2019 event in Dubai.

The collaboration will see Avaya’s contact centre services hosted on Microsoft’s Azure cloud datacenters in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Avaya IX-CC, Contact Center as a Service platform will be available to customers initially in the Arab Gulf region. With plans to expand the service to other Azure global regions in the future. The service is expected to be available H1 2020 with voice capabilities, followed by omnichannel features later in the year.

Ahmed Helmy, International CTO Avaya and Sherif Tawfik, Microsoft UAE Executive Director, Channel, Alliances, Startups and SMEs spoke to the media at the Avaya booth at GITEX 2019 about the partnership.

Microsoft launch first LEAP Program cohort in Nigeria

Ten female developers will participate in the first cohort of the Microsoft LEAP Program in Nigeria. They will recieve sixteen weeks of training in technical support software engineering roles.

Microsoft Leap Hackathon in Nigeria

This is part of Microsoft‘s plans to encourage diversity and inclusivity in software engineering roles in Nigeria. Microsoft LEAP has started in Nigeria with the intention of getting more females into technology. Princess Anya, Microsoft Business program Manager, Global talent Innovation in charge of Microsoft Leap Program West Africa, tells me.

The LEAP Engineering Acceleration Program is a Microsoft initiative that tries to increase diversity. Bringing more women into software engineering roles. By providing them with real world experience through development and project management apprenticeships with hands-on projects.

Speaking to me about the program, Princess Anya, shares that the ladies will undergo four weeks of classroom and labs training. After which they will proceed to do twelve weeks of hands-on project sessions. Where they handle projects with guidance from mentors.

At the end of the 16 weeks LEAP apprenticeship program, the ladies will join Microsoft partner Tek Experts as full time employees. Where they will work as support Software Engineers, supporting customers with Microsoft Solutions.

In a prelude to this program, Microsoft hosted thirty female developers in a hackathon event in Lagos.
