Advancements in technology are made each day and it is no secret that these have been applied to various sports, including football. Due to various football leagues and continental cups, some of them don’t use specific types of technology due to the preference of the fans.

Technology has proven to be extremely helpful and has assisted match officials in making the right call. Albeit not always the most popular one.

Whether you call it football or soccer, the excitement of the beautiful game does unite fans all over the world. It is a well-known fact that technology can create controversy in a sport that is already loaded with passionate fans.

Technology continues to have a big impact on virtually every aspect of football life in recent times. If you’re thinking that technology is only used in industries and big organizations, keep calm and be ready to be surprised. You should know that it is now used in Football in all the major leagues in the world.

Football for the longest time has had no need to use technology when playing competitive matches. However, in the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia, VAR established itself as an integral technology that helps to make crucial decisions during matches.

Looking into the future, the following are five ways Technology will help to enhance football:

  1. The rise and rise of Google Glass
  2. Giving Assistant Referees more helping hand with prozone
  3. Appealing Debatable decisions to a video reference
  4. Refereeing Debatable decisions to a video referee
  5. Goal-Line Technology
