2018 Imagine Cup Online Finals

Microsoft’s 2018 Imagine Cup competition is opened. Do you have an idea that solves a problem, apply! The cup competition is opened to students at any qualified academic institution and aged 16 and above.

The next big thing could come from you.
Facebook and Twitter started as student projects.
Your ideas could be next.

Imagine Cup competition is about innovations changing the way we live. It is about solutions and applications that save lives. The competition provides a platform for student teams across the globe to showcase the technology they create. And how those techs can not only shape their futures, but directly improve the lives of users.

“Incredible, world-changing software innovations often come from students. Social networks, music services, photo apps, games, gadgets and robotics – the list goes on. We’re looking for the next big thing and we know students like you are going to make it. Imagine Cup, Microsoft’s premier international competition for young developers, is your chance to show off your biggest, boldest software solution. A goal contest for the most original student applications, and the winning team will take home up to $100,000”

Participating in the 2018 Imagine Cup Online Finals

There are two ways to qualify for the Imagine Cup World Finals held each year. Either through the National Finals in your country or through the Online Finals. The online finals is opened to student teams from countries that have no national finals taking place. Or if a category isn’t held in your national finals and that’s your project you can apply online.

Information we currently have suggests Imagine Cup national finals in Africa will not be taking place. Which means all interested teams will have to submit their ideas through the online finals. Last year two teams from Uganda and South Africa were online finalists. Unfortunately they weren’t able to make it to the world finals stage to present. Hopefully that’ll be a different story this year. Also check out the regional Middle East and Africa competition from last year.

Visit the Imagine cup registration page and give it your best shot. Learn about the rules and what’ll make your submission a better choice.

World Finalist teams will win an all expenses paid trip to the world finals. Where they’ll present and compete with other teams from across the globe. Winning teams get the title of World Champion, up to $100,000 cash prize, the Imagine Cup, mentorship opportunities with industry leaders and an Azure grant.
