UPDATE:

Freddies Corner GH and Telefonika Ghana have the devices available on sale. *They aren’t the country variant devices but hey if you don’t give any care to promotions you are good to get yours now.
About pricing Freedies Corner have the Lumia 950XL at GHS₵ 2,400. Telefonika have the Lumia 950XL for sale at GHS₵ 2,890 and the Lumia 950 at GHS₵ 2,790.

The new Lumia flagship devices, Lumia 950 and 950XL announced at the Windows 10 devices event in New York city in October this year have been making their way to network carriers and shops all over Europe and the United states, so when will they be available in Ghana some people have been asking?

I’ve asked the mobile services division of Microsoft Ghana this and it doesn’t look just yet. We might have to wait till after the Christmas holiday season before the Ghana Country variant(CV) specific devices will be available. It’s the same story for other African countries at the moment.
Before the devices can be made available, there needs to be some testing with network carriers and trainings for Microsoft mobile personnels. As we speak the trainings are yet to happen but I believe they’ve started testing with the carriers.

Looking at how it’s only until last week that the pre-orders picked up pace in Europe and the US; obviously trying to make sure devices are ready for thanksgiving (black Friday) sales and the holiday season ahead, we could have a different story, maybe see the Lumia 950 and 950XL before the end of the year.

Most stores like the Nokia (Microsoft) Care, Telefonika Ghana, Compu-Ghana, MTN, Vodafone and almost every phone outlet sells the country variant devices and as such will have to wait till this becomes available say in January.
Other stores like Freddies Corner and online sellers through Tonaton and OLX; usually sell the international or unlocked device versions from other CV markets so they might have them ahead of the other stores. We’ll be ready to update you as they become available.

On pricing, Microsoft said the Lumia 950 and 950XL were going to sell $549.00 and 649.00 respectively but you’ll need to include tax, shipping and profits and rate of exchange at the time of availability. They might sell around 2,400 GHS (Lumia 950) and 2,700 GHS (Lumia 950XL).

You’ll have to wait a little bit longer to get your hands on the Lumia 950 and 950 XL flagship phones. Buying a non Ghana CV device will disqualify you from any promotional offers they might have ready, something they’ve done in the past with the Lumia Make it happen car promo and Lumia make it happen promo to Singapore.

So what’s going to be your move? Wait to buy it early or get it later when it’s finally available, tell us .
